1937 Marx, Midget Climbing Fighting Tank in Original Box

This gorgeous multicolored camouflaged tin litho tank was the first of several versions produced from 1937 through 1941. It's powered by a strong clockwork, spring driven motor and comes complete with its original box. The box has a post-1939 logo so it was produced between 1939 and 1941. A later khaki version of the tank was also used in the Marx Army Train sets.

Beautifully designed World War I era "lozenge" shaped vehicle lithoed in brilliant yellow, red, and green and accented in black. Features two gear "toothed" wheels which allows it travel up and over many types of bumpy surfaces. Top side characterized by twin sparking machine guns (with working sparks), brake switch and chrome plated bubble turret. This version also has a tow hook on the back.

The sides were lithoed with geared bogey wheels, cogs, rivets, and pre-1939 Marx logo's. The edges were scallop cut to resemble tank treads. The key is attached.

The underside is open revealing a complex gear mechanism with fives axles. A sixth axle holds the small rear wooden balance wheel in place. The sparking wheel located on the front axle is also tied into movement of the gears.
